Taylor Swift, full Taylor Alison Swift. American singer/songwriter who's had great success with the tales she tells of her young heartbreak. Swift began to develop an interest in music as a child and quickly progressed from playing in children's shows to making her debut in front of an audience. At the age of 11, she sang The Star-Spangled Banner before a Philadelphia 76ers basketball game. in the next year, she picked up the guitar and began writing songs. Swift had taken her influences from the music of Shania Twain and that of The Dixie Chicks now known as The Chicks in the world of country music, wrote the original songs she wrote to express her feelings of alienation. Swift's family moved in Tennessee Pennsylvania when she was 13, so that she could be able to spend more time exploring country music labels in Nashville.
